Bibliography of German incunabula from an unidentified collection [typescript], [ca. 1900-1924].

Typescript of a bibliography of books issued by German printers from the era of Gutenberg to about 1501. The work is arranged alphabetically by German cities and towns and then by printer. A few of the printers included were active in Switzerland. The work appears to be based on an unidentified catalog Turnbull had in hand. He gives indidividual titles with the corresponding numbers in Hain's Repertorium Bibliographicum (1826-1838), noting when an item in hand is not in Hain or when the Turnbull copy is a variant. Turnbull gives detailed bibliographical and binding descriptions, with background material on the printers and on the introduction of printing into the various cites of Germany. Facsimile sheets of types represented, some annotated by Turnbull, are inserted into the accompanying album. The typescript is in an unfinished state and lacks a general introduction or title.
